Airbus designs new space station with artificial gravity

Airbus has designed a new space station that uses artificial gravity to help astronauts combat the negative effects of long-term spaceflight. The station, called Orbital Harmony, would have two concentric rings that rotate to create a simulated gravity environment.

The outer ring would rotate once every two minutes, while the inner ring would rotate once every minute. This rotation would create a gravity environment similar to that on the Moon, which is about one-sixth of Earth's gravity. This simulated gravity would help prevent muscle and bone loss that can occur during long periods of weightlessness in space.

In addition to the artificial gravity system, Orbital Harmony would also include other features to improve the quality of life for astronauts, such as a greenhouse for growing plants, a gym for exercise, and private crew quarters.

Airbus hopes to build the space station in the coming years, although funding and support from government agencies will be needed to make it a reality. If successful, the station could pave the way for future missions to Mars and other destinations in our solar system.
